What the Bills did was win what probably was a Super Bowl preview, taking a shootout against the Lions 48–35. As could have been expected, Buffalo had no problem scoring on a battered and undermanned Detroit defense.
Josh Allen threw for 362 yards with two TDs and also rushed for two scores. James Cook also ran for two TDs with his 105 yards rushing. Jared Goff racked up 494 yards and five touchdowns passing and Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 14 passes for 93 yards. But the Lions had to play catch-up after falling behind 14–0 and could never recover.
